Who makes aivest.com and why? 7149 0
Started by timvdh
aivest.com is a hobbyist project designed and maintained by Tim van der Horst, https://www.pqconsulting.de It was started in 2010. It is not open source (yet - I am thinking about making it an open source project). The aivest idea is that there are some quantitative methods that everyone can use to structure a well balanced stock portfolio. I love stocks, I think investing in stocks makes a lot of sense. I am also using aivest.com to test new technologies.

New Statistics Feature 12304 0
Started by timvdh
It is now possible to get more insight into the selection algorithm. Check the new statistics page: www.aivest.com/Statistics This lists the probability of all stocks selectable by the aivest optimizer. The list is being updated on a daily basis. You may also check if a certain stock is present in the list by using the filter under the name heading. In general the top 1500 stocks (worldwide) ranked by market capitalization are supposed to be contained in the...

Will the portfolio suggestions for all users look alike? 11869 0
Started by timvdh
The aivest portfolio is an individual suggestion for you - nobody else will receive that same portfolio suggestion, although the logic used to create all portfolios is identical. Even for the same investment amount and currency entered at the same time varying portfolio suggestions will result. Since the algorithm chooses stocks randomly but prefers stocks with a higher market capitalization, you will often see large positions of highly capitalized stocks.

How do I create a portfolio? 11843 0
Started by timvdh
aivest will only suggest a portfolio, i.e. certain amounts of certain stocks, that you may then actually buy through your broker. You only have to enter a target amount and the currency you would like to use. The target amount does not include transaction costs, i.e. when you enter '5000 USD' as a target amount, then a portfolio worth about 5000 USD will be constructed by the optimizer. However, since you need to pay fees to brokers, exchanges etc. to order stocks, your total investment wi...

How does aivest construct portfolios? 11548 0
Started by timvdh
aivest constructs globally diversified minimum variance portfolios. The aim is to construct a portfolio, that yields a similar return as a global stock index at a similar risk, but with a much smaller subset of stocks (i.e. while a global stock index contains thousands of different stocks, a typical aivest portfolio will only contain about 15 different stocks). Harry Markowitz published the basics of the quantitative analysis used by aivest in 1952 and received the Nobel Memorial Prize in Eco...
